GlobaliSME - About the project

foldgombReason for the project:

Despite the key role played by SMEs in Europe and in New Member States (NMS) countries and their ability to survive in difficult economic conditions, they should still face some challenges in order to progress and growth in the EU enlarged economy, overcoming the following weaknesses:

1., the lack of ability of strategic thinking and company's development planning, that produce a rective approach toward the market, and thus the tendency to survive rather than growth

2., the low co-operation with other SMEs and with the regional context, that limits the opportunities of sharing experiences, knowledge and resources and benefiting of the support that regional public bodies could provide them with

3., poor intellectual capital resources, that limits the operational capabilies of the companies and in the long term their competitive advantage.

Main aims and objectives:

The GlobaliSME project aims at transfering and adapting an existing training programme owned by ISTUD Fundation, the ISIP (ISTUD SMEs Internationalization Programme), for supporting NMS SMEs in undertaking the changing process and overcoming the above mentioned tipical weaknesses. The training programme, is aimed at providing the managers of SMEs with needed skills and attitude for developing an internationalization strategy and an action plan and managing its implementation. The project adresses directly (beneficiaries): universities and VET organisations; intermediaries providing support to SMEs and indirectly (end-users) SMEs personnel.

 Impact envisaged:

To incrise the skills of Hungarian and Cypriot VET operators, universities and intermediaries in effectively support SMEs by learning from more experienced partners from EU 15; to support the SMEs in approaching international market.
